Interns in Maharashtra, who, within a year, will be practicing independently as doctors have been forced to resort to indefinite hunger strike rather than hone their skills.
All this, due to the ignorance of government towards their demands.
So lets see what the demands are:-
1. Raise in stipend from Rs.2,550 to Rs.13,000
2. Regular revision of prices
Considering the costs of living and inflation of prices, do you think the basic necessities of our Health Care Personnels can be fulfilled in a mere Rs.2550
To Make it even, lets see what our partner states' attitudes are towards their own personnel
West Bengal Rs.14,000
Central Institutes Rs.. 13500
Delhi Rs.13000
Assam Rs.12500
Orrisa Rs. 8,600
Karnatka Rs. 8500
UP Rs. 7500
Bihar Rs. 7000
Jharkhand Rs.7000
This, I think, everyone will agree that if a person is not able to fulfill his basic necessities the quality of his work will suffer.
I truly support ASMI, lets fight hard.!!!
ReplyDeleteSee the whole idea of Medicine is to help those whoa are ill..since we don't categorize our patients on the basis of any criteria..why shud they do so with us..the point is "IF THERE ARE STATES WHO ARE PAYING 10-13,000 TO INTERNS..WHY NOT MAHARASHTRA??" I mean kya sarkar ki haalat itni kharab hai ki hame aise fatichar haalat me rakkhte hain??

ReplyDeleteI was Intern when MARD was formed and went on the first indefinite strike for stipend raise way back in 1974. A lot of water has flown under the bridge since then.
ReplyDeleteEven when on the other side for almost 30 years, I always had a supporting attitude towards interns of my department.
Now as a parent of an Intern I fully support your strike.
Keep unity and Fight hard...Bravo...!!!
Thanks a lot for your kind support and really need guidance of seniors like you...
ReplyDeletewe will definitly get our demand fulfill if we show our strength like this......we are now in electronic media like ibn7live ,p7 news channel ...,and continuously in print media ...
ReplyDeleteit is shame on our govt. as maharashtra is economical capital of india and paying 1/4th of the developing states like u.p. and bihar ...
it is serious concern why govt. always make us and others to go on strike as govt is well informed 3 month ago about our cocern ........
our strike will continue till our demand fullfill...
With Bihar & Jharkhand paying Rs. 7000/- to their interns Maharashtra must pay you at least Rs.10000/- if not Rs. 13000 as you are demanding. Do not accept less than that.
ReplyDeleteGovt will try every method to pressurise you or even divide you. Keeping Unity among the members of ASMI is the keyword.
United you win, divided you loose.
To get public support, stage street plays to explain your plight. You can also involve parents in your fight. Many parents must be willing to show their support by sitting at the venue at least for an hour or so. That will attract public attention if not pressurise authorities.
Best of Luck...!!!
We really appreciate your support and ideas, and we know the government tactics and we are ready to fight hard !!!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot !!
